To provide an offside line detector which detects the position of an offside line from an image obtained by photographing a soccer game.
An offside line detector 1 is provided with; a silhouette image generation means for dividing an input image into player areas and a background area; a three-dimensional player coordinate estimation means 12 for estimating three-dimensional estimate player coordinates of players; a two-dimensional player area setting means 13 for setting two-dimensional player areas of players in the input image; a color statistic measuring means 14 for measuring statistics of colors in two-dimensional player areas; a color statistic storage means 15 for storing statistics of colors based on jersey colors of teams to which players belong; a classifying means 16 for classifying players into teams on the basis of statistics of colors; and an offside line position output means for specifying and outputting the position of an offside line on the basis of a team to which each player belongs, and three-dimensional player estimate coordinates.
