Abstract:
The charge-coupled device comprises a transfer device within the charge-coupled device for moving charge through the number of cells in a predetermined direction towards the output region. An output device takes charge moved through the number of cells under control of the transfer device and removes charge from the charge-coupled device to an output gate. A shaped potential barrier region within the output device is shaped such that there is an effective increase in the charge-coupled device channel width progressing towards the output gate. The channel region decreases in width under the output gate within the output device.
