Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a hydrotreatment catalyst for a hydrocarbon oil which can markedly reduce the sulfur content of gas oil and to provide a method for hydrotreating a hydrocarbon oil by using the catalyst. SOLUTION: This catalyst is prepared by infiltrating 10-30 wt.% (in terms of the oxide of the group 6 metal), based on the catalyst, a first solution containing a group 6 metal salt into a compound oxide support containing above 80 to 99.5 mass % alumina and 0.5 to below 20 mass % at least one member selected from zeolite, boria, silica, and zirconia, drying the support, and optionally firing the dried support and infiltrating 1-15 wt.% (in terms of the oxide of the group 8 metal), based on the catalyst, second solution containing a group 8 metal salt and an organic compound having at least one member selected from a hydroxy group, an ether bond, a carboxy group, and an amino group, and drying the support. A sulfur-containing gas oil fraction is subjected to a catalytic reaction in the presence of the catalyst under conditions including a hydrogen partial pressure of 3-8 MPa, a temperature of 300-420 deg.C and a liquid hourly space velocity of 0.3-5 hr-.
