Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make porolongable the time of driving by a battery while limiting the supply of power to the back light of a liquid crystal display(LCD). SOLUTION: Concerning the electronic equipment having the LCD provided with a back light 24a, a CPU discriminates whether input operation is turned into unnecessary processing waiting state during the execution of an application or not based on the power saving mechanism of an operating system and when it is discriminated that the input operation is turned into the processing waiting state, a low luminance signal is reported to an inverter circuit 18. The inverter circuit 18, which receives the low luminance signal, lowers the value of a current to be supplied to the back light 24 through a back light control circuit 18a and attains power saving by turning the back light 24a into luminance.
