Abstract:
A highly absorbent polysaccharide-based absorption material and a method for its production, wherein a liquid solution containing a starting material in the form of a cross-linkable polysaccharide-based polymer is subjected to cross-linking to produce a liquid-swollen gel. The at least partially cross-linked gel is soaked in a water-miscible organic solvent so that water is partially removed from the gel.
