Abstract:

To provide a new type titanium dioxide having a crystal structure characterized in that a ramsdellite type partial structure and a rutile type partial structure are alternately layered and the ratio of the ramsdellite type and the rutile type partial structure can be arbitrarily controlled, and a method for producing the same.

This method for producing the new type titanium dioxide, represented by general formula TiO2and having both of a partial structure with ramsdellite type crystal structure and a partial structure with rutile type crystal structure, where the ramsdellite type partial structure and the rutile type partial structure are alternately layered, comprises heat treating ramsdellite type titanium dioxide powder at 150-400°C. Figure 4 shows a result of the measurement of an absorption spectrum the sample.
