To provide a river water intake structure which is constructed by excavating a recess connected to a quay having an intake port formed therein, wherein deposition of sand on the recess is prevented by employing a simple and inexpensive means.
According to the river water intake structure, a flexible film member 7 for covering the recess 3 connected to the quay 2a having the intake port 4 formed therein, has its outer peripheral edge attached to side walls of the recess 3, and water is supplied to a lower side of the film member 7 via a water supply port, whereby the film member 7 is vertically moved between a bottom and an upper edge of the recess 3. When river water is taken, the film member 7 is lowered to the bottom of the recess 3, and except when the river water is taken, the film member 7 is raised to the upper edge of the recess 3. As a result, when the film member 7 is raised to the upper edge of the recess 3, settling of sand is prevented without lowering the flow rate of the river 1 in an area of the recess 3. On the other hand, sand settling on an upper surface of the film member 7 when the film member 7 is lowered to the bottom of the recess 3 during water intake, flows downstream when the film member 7 is raised to the upper edge of the recess 3 after the water intake. In this manner, deposition of the sand on the recess 3 is prevented by employing the simple and inexpensive means.
