To provide a coating capable of sufficiently performing a photocatalytic function, especially capable of sufficiently performing the photocatalytic function even by visible light and further a pigment being a base of the coating.
The photocatalyst-covered particles are obtained by heating an aqueous solution containing titanium hydroxide, carbon and lithium chloride after irradiating ultrasonic wave under vacuum, then drying the mixture in the aqueous solution by a dryer to obtain titanium dioxide-covered particles and then calcining the titanium dioxide-covered particles under an inert gas atmosphere to convert the titanium dioxide to titanium suboxide. The coating is produced by preparing a dispersion by dispersing the produced photocatalyst-covered particles and mixing with the colloid of an off-shaped silicic acid, etc.
