To provide a luminous element which is capable of emitting light with high luminance and a high efficiency and is excellent in durability, an iridium complex which can be used for the luminous element and is also suitable for an organic electroluminescent element material, an electrochemiluminescent (ECL) element material, a luminescence sensor, a photosensitizer, a display, etc., its preparation method and a luminous material.
The iridium complex is represented by formula (1). The compound shows a strong luminescence within a visible light region and is therefore suitable for an organic electroluminescent element material, an electrochemiluminescent (ECL) element material, a luminescence sensor, a photosensitizer, a display, a fluorescent brightener, a photographic material, a laser dye, a dyestuff for a color filter, optical communication, a color conversion filter, backlight, lighting, a photosensitizing pigment, various light sources, etc.
