To provide a method of cold drawing, which method uses a lubricating coating film, which does not require a base layer prepared by a chemical conversion treatment, and which method can prevent seizure in working, and further to provide a method for manufacturing a pipe by the cold drawing.
In the method for cold-drawing the pipe having the lubricating coating film formed on its surface, the lubricating coating film has a resinoid layer containing resin and wax particles distributed in the resin. The resinoid layer contains 25 to 99 mass% of resin relative to 100 mass% thereof, and the resin is bridged by a compound and/or its ions and has a glass transition temperature of 30°C or less, the compound containing at least one kind of metallic elements among typical metal elements and transition metal elements. Further, the ratio (h/Ry) of the thickness (h) of the lubricating coating film to the roughness (Ry) of a mother pipe in terms of the maximum height is set to be 0.02 to 50.
