Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element which has a performance better than before and has a long life, weather resistance, high stability and high efficiency, and is of low cost and easy manufacture, and further, has a stabilized property in layer surfaces. SOLUTION: The EL element comprises a substrate, a hole filling electrode formed on the substrate, an electron filling electrode, and a luminous layer containing organic material provided between these electrodes. Between this luminous layer and the electron filling electrode, an inorganic electron filing transporting layer is provided, and between the luminous layer and the hole filling electrode, an inorganic hole filling transporting layer is provided. The luminous layer comprises a first luminous layer and a second luminous layer, which have a surface respectively facing with the inorganic electron filling transporting layer or the inorganic hole filling transporting layer. The inorganic electron filling transporting layer blocks the holes and has a conductive path to transport electrons. The inorganic hole filling transporting layer blocks the electrons and has a conductive path to transport the holes. The first and the second luminous layer have a band gap of more than 2.8 eV for their host material contained.
