To provide a method for detecting step-out of a linear motor, capable of determining the number of stators which drive a movable element, without requiring a sensor for detecting the step-out, and detecting the step-out of the movable element by the number of the stators which drive the movable element and a position generated in a position generator.
In the method for detecting the step-out of the linear motor which excites a plurality of winding group divided in the stroke direction by a winding switching device, the number of stators which drive the movable element is determined by a stator quantity determiner 3 using a speed command 4, current commands 7 and 8, voltage commands 10 and 11, and a motor constant. The step-out of the linear motor 16 is detected by a step-out detector 1, using the determined result of the number of stators and the position 18 generated by the position generator 5.
