This image processor is configured to decide a character region including at least one pixel lump determined as characters from at least a portion of image data being the object of processing, and to decide the number of colors of the pixel lump determined as characters included in each character region as the number of character colors, and to decide the number of colors of pixels being the background section of each character region as the number of background colors, and to supply the information of the number of character colors and the background colors acquired from the decision to predetermined image processing.
