To horizontally move a stack of sheets and complete a binding operation with tape.
The machine comprises: a carrying feed part 1 that feeds a stack of sheets, which consists of a particular number of sheets neatly arranged in a stack, to a binding part 2 from a position opposite to the binding part 2, while keeping the stack substantially horizontal; a taping means 10 that encircles the carried stack of sheets with a tape T; a tape cutter 5 that cuts the tape; and the binding part 2 that has a joining pallet 6 for joining the cut ends of the tape under heat. The binding part 2 has a carrying means 11 in which at least one of a pair of carriers, upper and end, is freely opened and closed so as to be brought into contact with the stack of sheets and separated therefrom, substantially horizontally sandwiches the stack of sheets fed substantially horizontally by the carrying feed part 1, and maintains the sandwiching state until binding is completed. After the completion of binding, the carrying means 11 is driven to carry the bundle of sheets to the subsequent stage while keeping the bundle substantially horizontal.
