Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a desulfurizing agent for fluidized bed dry desulfurization, which is high in strength and excellent in wear resistance and has high desulfurizing performance constantly over a long period of time and to provide a method for manufacturing the desulfurizing agent. SOLUTION: This desulfurizing agent is obtained by depositing zinc oxide on a porous carrier consisting of oxide or silicate and has 105-710 μm particle size, 0.1-1.5 apparent specific gravity and 1-50 m2/g specific surface area. The method for manufacturing the desulfurizing agent comprises impregnating the porous carrier consisting of oxide or silicate with the aqueous solution of water- soluble zinc salt, drying the impregnated carrier, firing the dried carrier at 400-1,200 deg.C under an oxidizing atmosphere, pulverizing the fired material and classifying the pulverized material so that the particle size becomes 105-710 μm.
