To provide a separation device easy for construction, without being subjected to a restriction in an installation place and a space or the like.
The separation device 10, which is installed in a water discharge tube 2 with rain water flowing down therein for the separation of solid matter contained in rain water, includes: a separation container 11; a partition plate 14 longitudinally partitioning the interior of the separation container to form a flowing-in chamber 12 and a flowing-out chamber 13; a screen 15 (16) formed on the partition plate 14; a rain-water flowing-in part 17 formed above the flowing-in chamber 12; a rain-water discharging part 18 formed in the flowing-out chamber 13; and an openable/closable lid 19 provided to the flowing-in chamber 12 for discharging the solid matter. A guide part 22 is formed in the lower part of the flowing-in chamber 12 for generating a vertical swirling current in the rain water flowing-in downward from the flowing-in part 17, allowing the rain water in the flowing-in chamber to pass through the screen 15 (16), while swirling, to be discharged from the discharge part 18 in the flowing-out chamber 13.
