To more quickly reach a destination at a desired scale when controlling display contents of a touch panel based on a track drawn by contact on the touch panel.
When a contact position on the touch panel is within a specific area, the display contents is enlarged or reduced according to the track drawn just thereafter. In a zoom-out mode, size of the reduced image is decided based on the contact position just before a pen or the like leaves the touch panel, and the display contents are reduced to be fit in the decided size. In a zoom-in mode, a frame is displayed, and contents in the frame are enlarged at a scaling factor corresponding to the specific area, i.e., designated scaling factor when the pen or the like leaves the touch panel after the frame is moved. The enlargement can be performed all at once without getting lost. No troublesome procedure is required for the enlargement/reduction or movement, thereby enabling a quick operation.
