Abstract:
In a liquid crystal display device including a pair of substrates, a liquid crystal layer which is sealed between main surfaces of the substrates, a seal member which is respectively formed on peripheral portions of the opposing main surfaces of a pair of these substrates so as to fixedly secure a pair of substrates to each other and surrounds the liquid crystal layer, a light shielding film is formed on one of peripheral portions of a pair of substrates simply and without a human hand. That is, the light shielding film is formed on at least one side of the main surface peripheral portion of one of a pair of substrates opposite to the liquid crystal layer. A region on which the light shielding film is formed is overlapped to a region of the main surface of one of a pair of substrates on which the seal member is formed in a back-to-back relationship, and the light shielding film is formed of polyester-based resin to which black pigment is added.
