To provide a superconductive electromagnetic apparatus capable of reducing the axial length of a horizontal cylindrical superconductive electromagnet for use in an MRI apparatus.
This superconductive electromagnetic apparatus comprises a low-temperature vessel 1 having a cylindrical main coil spool 1D equipped with main coils 4A-4D and formed with a flange at the end thereof, a cylindrical shielding coil (SC) spool 1E fixed to the perimeter of the main coil spool, and a perimeter 1B mounted on the flange of the SC spool and having liquid helium 6 sealed therein, a cylindrical vacuum heat insulating vessel 2 for receiving the low-temperature vessel and effecting vacuum heat insulation for it, a cylindrical radiant heat shield 7 provided between the low-temperature vessel and the vacuum heat insulating vessel and for reducing the radiant heat, and a support 8 for supporting the low-temperature vessel and provided straddling the flange of the SC spool of the low-temperature vessel and the vacuum heat insulating vessel. The axial length of the perimeter 1B of the low-temperature vessel is made less than the axial length of the main coil spool 1D, and the clearance between the flange 1J of the SC spool and the radiant heat shield 7 is utilized as the installation portion for the support.
