To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery with high capacity, high charge/discharge characteristics, and low cost.
The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises a positive electrode absorbing/releasing lithium ions, a negative electrode 11 absorbing/releasing lithium ions, a separator interposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, and a nonaqueous electrolyte, the negative electrode comprises a negative current collector 12 and a negative mix layer 13, and the negative mix layer is composed of flake graphite 14. A basal face forms an angle of 60-90 degrees to a facing surface of the positive and negative electrodes in 90% or more of the flake graphite, and the density of the negative mix layer is 1.4 g/ml or more.
