Abstract:

To provide a transmitter/receiver and transmission and reception method for transmitting AV contents at high speed even by a TCP protocol.

The transmitter/receiver is provided with a host CPU 101, a first transmitting/receiving means 102, a second transmitting/receiving means 103, a first interface means 108 for performing data transmission and reception of an Ether frame between the first transmitting/receiving means 102 and the host computer 101, and a second interface means 109 for transmitting a TCP connection request instruction to the second transmitting/receiving means 103 from the host computer 101, wherein the second transmitting/receiving means 103 performs connection to another device 106 connected to a transmission path 107 in a procedure regulated by a TCP/IP protocol according to the TCP connection request instruction.
