To provide a device, or the like, which can measure the distance from a vehicle to an object with high accuracy, while object detection is carried out through an imaging device, even when the presence of the object is not recognized clearly through a radar.
According to a vehicle-urrounding monitoring device 10, a plurality of the objects are detected in one object domain which constitutes area of an infrared camera (imaging device) 11. When different measured distances are measured for each object, the measured distance of a first object is compensated to the first distance showing the maximum peak of the reflection intensity, based on the reflection intensity data obtained by a radar device 12. The measured distance of the (i+1)-th object (i=1,2, etc.) among the plurality of the objects is compensated into the (i+1)thdistance which shows the maximum peak of the reflection intensity at the (i+1)th distance range which does not include the first distance or all the ithdistances by using the measured distance of the (i+1)th object as a standard based on the reflectedintensity data.
