To provide a refining furnace capable of prevening occurrence of flame and dust when charging automobile pressed-scrap and slag into a furnace, are prevented, injecting powdery steelmaking dusts into a converter, and supplying an energy source into the refining furnace by using a means other than a top-blown lance.
In the refining furnace 1 having a first opening hole part 3 and a second opening hole part 4 and tiltable around a tilting shaft 2; this refining furnace has opening/closing cover 8 for covering the second opening hole part 4 and sets the first opening hole part 3 and the second opening hole part 4 at mutually different angles to the tilting shaft 2. An exhaust gas duct 6 for sucking the exhaust gas from the first opening hole part 3 and a dust collecting hole 7 for collecting the dust from the second opening hole part 4, are provided. While charging the main raw material and the slag from the one side of opening hole part, the dust can be collected from the other side of opening hole part. Oxygen gas is fed with an oxygen lance 15 inserted from the first opening hole part 3 and powdery material can be injected with an immersion lance 17 inserted from the second opening hole part 4.
