To provide a fingerprint image generation device for suppressing an error taking a sweat gland hole area for a valley line area even if a sweat gland area with a wide width exists in generating a binary fingerprint image where the image is binarized into a ridge line pixel value showing a ridge line area and a valley line pixel showing a valley line area.
A fingerprint image generation device 1 comprises ridge line width obtaining means 16 obtaining a ridge line width corresponding to a multivalued fingerprint image in which unevenness of the fingerprint is indicated by multiple values; a first threshold setting means 17 setting a first binarizing threshold for a pixel of at least a part of the multivalued fingerprint image to a value so that the pixel is more likely to be determined to be a ridge line as the width of the ridge line is wider; and a binarizing means 18 binarizing the multivalued fingerprint image by means of the first binarizing threshold.
