To provide a cleaning mechanism control method for a multifunctional device, enabling an installation worker to find out and cope with an attachment failure of an air filter while he/she is in the site.
In the cleaning mechanism control method for the multifunctional device including a cleaning mechanism 25 for cleaning an attachable/detachable air filter (not shown) for dust trapping and an operation start determination means 21 determining operation start of a multifunctional device main body (not shown), the cleaning mechanism 25 includes a suction nozzle 13 movable along the upwind side of the air filter, a suction device 15 communicating with the suction nozzle 13 and an exhaust duct 16 connected with the suction device 15, and the cleaning mechanism 25 is operated according to output from the determination means 21. Since the cleaning mechanism 25 is operated when the determination means 21 determines operation start of the main body at the time of a test operation which the installation worker performs after installing the device, the installation worker can find out and cope with the attachment failure of the air filter, if present, while he/she is in the site.
