To enable backup for easily and inexpensively recovering a system.
The backup device connected to a backup target system comprising predetermined hardware is provided with; an accumulated data backup means reading accumulated data accumulated in the backup target system and storing them; a software backup means for reading software operating the backup target system from the backup target system or a predetermined storage means and storing it; and a system configuration collection means collecting system configuration information representing a hardware configuration from the backup target system and storing it. The system configuration information includes connection relationship information representing a connection relationship between a plurality of pieces of hardware.
