Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system which can acquire precise vehicle usage data on a running distance or the like, and to provide a running-data control system and the like. SOLUTION: In the navigation system 20 on which a GPS receiver is mounted, running distance, number of used days of a vehicle, number of hours of the vehicle used and the like are acquired as vehicle usage data U. Characteristic discrimination information N which specifies a user is added to the data U, so as to be transmitted to an external server, such as an insurance company server 10 or the like via a communication terminal 25, connected to an external network such as the Internet 50. Alternatively, on the basis of the time information contained in a signal transmitted from a GPS satellite, the data U may be transmitted periodically to the external server of an automobile insurance company or the like, with which the user has entered into contract.
