To provide a method for modifying an alloy formed body with which an alloy formed body having higher strength can be obtained, and to provide an alloy formed body having higher strength.
In the method for modifying an alloy formed body 10, a probe 2 at the tip part of a tool 1 rotating around an axis line 3 is press-fitted into the surface part 10a of the alloy formed body 10 so as to heat and soften the alloy by the friction with the rotating tool 1, while the alloy in the vicinity of the probe 2 is stirred by rotating the tool 1 in a state where the probe 2 is press-fitted, the tool 1 is moved in parallel with the surface of the alloy formed body 10, and, in the same part of the alloy formed body 10, friction stirring is performed for at least two times, after the first friction stirring, to the side (advancing-side) where the rotating direction of the tool 1 and the parallel movement direction are the same, the friction stirring is again performed at the side (retreating-side) where the rotating direction of the tool 1 and the parallel movement direction are reverse.
