Abstract:
A communications system and a codec allocation method for including terminal equipped with a call function are provided to improve the service quality and increase the number of concurrent users by assigning the codec automatically corresponding to the available bandwidth of network. A call control unit(211) is connected to a terminal(100) including a call function using an IP(Internet Protocol) network. The call control unit processes the call according to the call connection request of the terminal. A bandwidth managing unit(214) corresponds to the call connection request and measures the bandwidth usage of the terminal. A codec allocating unit corresponds to the measurement result and assigns the voice or the video codec to the terminal.
