To provide device equipment capable of switching a communication mode automatically according to host equipment connected thereto.

When a digital camera 100 is USB-connected to the host equipment, the communication mode is determined immediately after the connection based on a command supplied from the host equipment so as to be automatically set to the communication mode corresponding to the host equipment. By this manner, a change of the communication mode is prevented from being forgot and prevented from being executed erroneously so as to be set surely to the communication mode corresponding to the host equipment.
