Abstract:
Disclosed is a color liquid crystal display (LCD) apparatus employing a transmissive color liquid crystal display panel. The apparatus includes, as a light source, a main white light source (21) having a three wavelength phosphorescent lamp emitting light with three or more wavelengths, and an auxiliary light source (22) having at least one of a red light emitting diode (22R), a green light emitting diode (22G) and a blue light emitting diode (22B). The red light emitting diode emits red light with a peak wavelength »pr = 645 nm, the green light emitting diode emits green light with a peak wavelength »pg = 555 nm and the blue light emitting diode emits blue light with a peak wavelength »pb = 440 nm. The light sources act for completely covering the color reproducing range of the sRGB standard and further enlarging respective color ranges.
