To provide a strong alumina carrier having a large pore volume, a hydrogenation demetallation catalyst, and a manufacturing method thereof.
While agitating bed water adjusted to pH 10-14, an aqueous solution of basic aluminum chloride is added to the water to be pH 6.5-10.0 within 5 minutes, and an aqueous solution of basic aluminum salt and the aqueous solution of basic aluminum chloride are kept to pH 6.5-10.0, and added in 10 minutes to two hours to obtain hydrated alumina while simultaneously agitating. The hydrated alumina is sequentially cleaned, aged, spray-dried, kneaded, molded, dried, and fired to obtain alumina carrier. An active metal component is carried on the obtained alumina carrier to obtain the hydrogenation catalyst.
