To obtain an oxime ester compound useful as a photopolymerization initiator, a photopolymerizable composition containing the same and a highly sensitive photopolymerization initiator.
The oxime ester compound has a specific structure. In particular, in the photopolymerizable composition containing (a) a black color material, (b) an organic binder and (c) the photopolymerization initiator, the oxime ester compound constitutes the component (c). The oxime ester compound can be used as the highly sensitive photopolymerization initiator. The photopolymerizable composition using the same in the form of a thin film is excellent in sensitivity and resolving power and exhibits a high light-blocking effect, so it is capable of forming a high-quality resin black matrix (BM) at a low cost. A color filter using the resin BM is excellent in precision, flatness and durability and is therefore capable of improving the display quality of a liquid crystal device. Moreover, the production process and the color filter itself do not involve any hazardous substance, so the danger to human body is reduced and environmental safety is enhanced. The oxime ester compound can be applied to usage wherein no color material is used, such as a photospacer and a rib (liquid crystal divided-alignment protrusion).
