Abstract:

To provide a material that imparts high catalytic activity in a low temperature region and is suited as a carrier for an automobile exhaust gas cleaning catalyst.

The perovskite-type composite oxide has a total pore volume occupied by pores having 10-50 nm pore size of 0.05 cc/g or larger and comprises for example at least one kind of rare earth elements and at least one kind of transition metal elements. In particular, when the perovskite-type composite oxide has the structural formula: RTO3, it is preferably employed that R is composed of at least one kind of rare earth elements, and T is composed of at least one kind of transition metal elements, or that R is composed of at least one kind of rare earth elements and at least one kind of elements selected from alkali metal elements and alkaline earth metal elements, and T is composed of at least one kind of transition metal elements. Wherein the "rare earth elements" is meant elements where Y is added to the rare earth elements.
