To solve the problem that the fact that it is difficult to predict a period when merchandise becomes unnecessary in a conventional technology for making the transfer recommendation of merchandise is resulted from the fact that the period when the merchandise becomes unnecessary is largely affected by a factor which is normally difficult to estimate such as the change of a fashion or the change of the tastes of an individual user or the increase of a feeling of weariness to merchandise accompanied by its use.

This recommendation device is configured to retrieve whether or not a homogeneous product has been previously purchased by the same user in purchasing merchandise by using the purchase history of merchandise, and to, when the retrieval result is positive, determine that the merchandise is purchased by replacement. That is because there is low possibility that the user purchases homogeneous merchandise in such a period that the user has just started to use the merchandise, and because there is low possibility that the user discards the previous merchandise in advance before purchasing the new homogeneous merchandise. Then, the recommendation device is configured to recommend the user to transfer the merchandise whose purchase period is older to a third person according to the determination result.
