To provide a method for producing carbonic ester by transesterification of a carbonic dialkyl with an aliphatic alcohol in a liquid phase, wherein the industrially favorable method for producing carbonic ester and settled the items to be improved and remaining in conventional technologies is provided, that is, to provide a simple and industrially favorable method for producing carbonic ester, capable of distilling and fractionating the objective products without performing complex operations such as neutralization or removal of the catalyst after reaction, and producing objective products with a high reaction velocity.

The method for producing carbonic ester comprises transesterification of a carbonic dialkyl with an aliphatic alcohol in the presence of a quaternary ammonium salt.
