Abstract:

To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine capable of quickly securing a brake operation force by a brake booster when catalyst temperature rise control is restarted after relatively short time interruption.

When gauge pressure PBGA(=PBA-PA) corresponding to intake air pressure PBA becomes higher than threshold MPPBGAL in this control device, control for gradually increasing a subtraction correction value IFIREMP for reducing an intake air quantity is performed (S307, S314, S315). Catalyst temperature rise control is interrupted and the subtraction correction value TIFIRMP is kept at a previous value (S310) when the travel of a vehicle is started (FVAIC=1). When vehicle travel is completed in a short period of time, catalyst temperature rise control is started again and the retained subtraction correction value IFIREMP is applied as an initial value.
