To provide a vehicular energy absorbing member of an aluminum alloy which provides high bending strength and energy absorbing characteristics and excellent collision characteristics while satisfying the restriction of a mounting space.
A hollow shape 3 of the vehicular energy absorbing member 1 made of an extrusion hollow structural angle of aluminum alloy is formed with a cross section in eyeglass form and the like consisting of outer and inner flanges 4, 5, webs 6, 7, and middle rib 8, 9. Deformed cross section parts 2, formed by deforming a part of the hollow shape 3 from the sides of the webs 6, 7 by press working 30, are provided at the center part 1a in the longitudinal direction. At the nonuniform cross section parts 2, the cross section width is made small and parts 4b, 4c of the outer flange 4 on the cross section surface are made to protrude toward the outside of the vehicle body from the center part 4a.
