To provide a driving support method and a driving support device for supporting driving when it is difficult to determine the presence of an oncoming vehicle.
A driving support unit 2 is provided with: an image processor 20 for detecting a stop vehicle ahead of its own vehicle; a communication I/F part 18 for requesting the other vehicles around its own vehicle to transmit oncoming vehicle attribute data and surrounding monitor data relating to the oncoming vehicle with respect to its own vehicle; and a control part 10. The control part 10 determines whether or not the oncoming vehicle exists based on the surrounding monitor data or whether the oncoming vehicle attribute data or the surrounding monitor data are received, and when determining that the oncoming vehicle exists, the control part 10 raises an alarm.
