To provide an oxide composite material obtained by depositing a metal-coated oxide on a substrate material and structure-controlled in a nano-level, to provide its manufacturing method and to provide an electrochemical device and a catalyst using the oxide composite material.
The oxide composite material comprises a substrate 12 and a coated oxide 18 containing an oxide 14 attached onto the substrate 12 and a metal layer 16 coating the oxide 14. The substrate 12 may be particles having a high aspect ratio of and a nano-size, and is specifically selected from a group consisting of a carbon nano-tube, a carbon whisker, a carbon fiber and a mixture thereof. The metal layer 16 is a metal selected from a group consisting of Cu, Ni, Ag, Au, Pt, Rh, Ru, Pd and V or an alloy containing at least two elements selected among Cu, Ni, Ag, Au, Pt, Rh, Ru, Pd and V.
