To provide a cogeneration system which surely prevents an increase in power consumption (power demand) exceeding contracted power, when starting a heat source machine such as a fuel cell, and to provide an operation control method for the cogeneration system.

The cogeneration system includes a means (1) using fuel for outputting heat and electricity, power equipment (50), a means (75) for measuring power consumption, a memory (8) for giving a priority order to the power equipment (50) which is stopped depending on the power consumption, and storing the priority order, and a control means (40). At starting the means (1) using the fuel for outputting heat and electricity, when the total of power required for starting and the power consumption at this time has usable power or greater, the control means (40) controls the power equipment (50) to be stopped in accordance with data stored in the memory and the means (1) to be started for outputting heat and electricity.
