To provide a portable electronic apparatus in which a processing response can be prevented from being deteriorated even when a plurality of function parts are added without significantly changing the basic configuration of the portable electronic apparatus, and to provide its control method.
A prescribed function part such as a touch sensor and the other function part such as an infrared communication part are switchably connected to an interface part capable of transmitting/receiving signals to/from a control part included in the portable electronic apparatus, and when the start of the other function part is requested, a communication port of the interface part to the prescribed function part is transited to a close state and then a communication port to the other function part is switched to an open state, and in the case of ending the other function part, the communication port to the other function part is switched to the close state and then the communication port to the prescribed function part is switched so as to be transited to the open state. In the case of using any one of the function parts, a connection part of the interface part is switched so as to be connected to the function part to be used.
