To provide an intake device for an internal combustion engine, suppressing deterioration of a combustion state caused by exhaust gas recirculated to an intake pipe.
This intake device for the internal combustion engine includes a tumble control valve (TCV) 23 controlling an intake flow in the internal combustion engine provided with an EGR device 40 recirculating a part of the exhaust gas, arranged in an intake pipe 21, and adjusting the intake flow, and a control device 50 controlling the TCV 23. The TCV 23 has a valve end portion 23T as a part thereof positioned closest to the introducing portion 44 of the EGR pipe 41 with respect to the intake pipe 21 when the TCV is in a predetermined opening, thereby forming a portion provided to the portion of the introducing portion 44 on the side of an intake passage and having pressure lower than the intake air upstream side and intake air downstream side of the portion thereof. The control device 50 performs separation control so that when a reduction in the amount of EGR gas is requested and the TCV 23 is in the predetermined opening, the TCV 23 is driven in a direction where the valve end portion 23T of the TCV 23 is separated from the introducing portion 44 before the reduction is requested.
