Abstract:

To provide a carbon-coated fine metallic particle which has a uniform particle diameter, does not cause arc-discharge and has a carbon coating film formed on the surface thereof.

The method for producing the carbon-coated fine metallic particle includes the steps of: suspending a carbon rod which holds a metallic material composing the fine metallic particle, in a chamber; decompressing the inside of the chamber to 10-5to 10-3Pa; introducing an inert gas so that the pressure in the inside of the chamber becomes 100-50,000 Pa; and then applying a voltage to the carbon rod to energize and heat it. The apparatus for producing the carbon-coated fine metallic particle includes: an electroconductive suspension member (A) for suspending one end of the carbon rod for holding the metallic material and an electroconductive suspension member (B) for suspending the other end of the carbon rod, which are suspended in the chamber placed so as to be shielded from the external space and are connected to an external power source; and a reduced-pressure pipe and a pipe for introducing an inert gas, which are connected to the internal space of the chamber.
