To prevent edge parts of paper sheets from being caught in a strip and damaged, when accumulated paper sheets are returned to a flat state from a curved state after being sealed.
This paper sheet sealing apparatus comprises: a sweeper 24 which pushes a top surface-side almost central part of the accumulated paper sheets 26 in the direction of accumulation; a supporting member 29 supports both undersurface-side ends of the accumulated paper sheets 26, pushed in by the sweeper 24, by supporting surfaces 30a-30b, so as to curve the accumulated paper sheets 26; and a clamper 40 which presses both top-surface-side ends of the curved paper sheets 26 toward the side of the supporting surfaces 30a-30c, so as to put them into the state of being parallel to each other with respect to a direction orthogonal to the direction of accumulation. The paper sheet sealing apparatus is also equipped with a strip winding mechanism 34 which seals the paper sheets by tying both the ends of the paper sheets 26 with the strip 21 in such a manner that sections of the strip cross each other at both the ends of the paper sheets 26 put into a parallel state by the clamper 40.
