Abstract:
To provide a durable active carbon and a durable electric double layer capacitor using the same.
An active carbon obtained by subjecting an easily-graphitized carbon to activation treatment by an alkali metal hydroxide is further subjected to dry treatment in an inert gas atmosphere of an oxygen concentration of 2,000 volume ppm or less to obtain an active carbon having a total amount of acid groups per unit weight of 0.2-1.2 mmol/g. There is also provided an electric double layer capacitor using the same.
