Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone where a battery life is extended while a viewing characteristics of a display data is improved by dividing a back-light into a plurality of parts for independent control, and allocating a longer lighting time for a part requiring lighting while a shorter lighting time is allocated, or not turned on, to a part not requiring lighting. SOLUTION: The portable telephone is provided where the back-light is turned on/off depending on incoming call or key input. There are provided a plurality of back-lights comprising a display light 205 and a keypad light 207, a control unit 203 for separately controlling the display light 205 and the keypad light 207, and a storage part 208 where a control data required for the control part 203 is stored.
