To appropriately prevent corrosion of an intercooler to improve its anticorrosive life, in a control device for an internal combustion engine having a low pressure loop EGR device.
The control device for the internal combustion engine is provided with the low pressure loop EGR device for recirculating exhaust gas from the downstream position of a turbine to the upstream position of a compressor and with the intercooler provided in the downstream position from a position where exhaust gas is recirculated. First and second flow passages make intake air flow from one and the other sides of the intercooler, and a selector valve performs switching of the first and second flow passages. A selector valve control means performs control of the selector valve based on elapsed time after switching of the flow passage or the amount of condensed water within the intercooler. Thus, retention of the condensed water can be suppressed and the condensed water can be appropriately dried. As a result, corrosion of the intercooler can be prevented to improve its anticorrosive life.
