To provide automatic transaction apparatus, which when a magnetic stripe on a transaction card cannot be read, restores a magnetic stripe and continue transaction based on information from the restored magnetic stripe.

The automatic transaction apparatus 1 is equipped with a card processing part 8 for accepting and processing a transaction card 10, equipped with a magnetic recording part 101 in which information for performing transaction has been recorded magnetically; and an IC chip 102 in which information associated with the transaction has been recorded. When magnetic recording information cannot be read from the magnetic recording part 101 of the transaction card 10, the card processing part 8 reads information from an IC chip 103, restores the magnetic recording information based on the information in the IC chip 103, reads the restored magnetic recording information, and progresses the transaction according to the read magnetic recording information.
