To provide an operation method for a fuel cell power generator, wherein operation can be performed to restrain degradation in power generation performance when the fuel cell power generator is installed with nitrogen gas filled with a fuel gas generating section and a fuel cell.
The fuel cell power generator includes a normal flow path Ru for supplying fuel gas generated by a fuel gas generating section P to a fuel cell G and for supplying exhaust fuel gas discharged from the fuel cell G after use for power generation to a reforming burner 3, and a cell bypass flow path Rb for supplying the fuel gas generated by the fuel gas generating section P to the reforming burner 3 bypassing the fuel cell G. Under a condition where the nitrogen gas is filled with the fuel gas generating section P and the fuel cell G, raw fuel is supplied by means of a raw fuel supply means K in a state where the normal flow path Ru is switched to a normal flow state or in a state where both of the normal flow path Ru and the cell bypass flow path Rb are switched to a normal flow state before a starting process is performed, and initial substitution process is performed to substitute the raw fuel for the nitrogen gas filled with the fuel gas generating section P and the fuel cell G.
